Arte Gallery presents the anniversary exhibition of Ivan Kanchev

“With respect to Thracian ceramics”

25.01.-10.02.2023

„Arte Gallery presents the anniversary exhibition of Ivan Kanchev “With respect to Thracian ceramics”. The author shows new works created especially for the Arte gallery space. The exhibition is organized as a sculptural installation dominated by large circular panels that have the effect of mysterious discs cut through by shallow ceramic structures and numerous small human figures. Ivan Kanchev’s enigmatic discs can be compared to both ritual calendars and cosmic tunnels, which turn art into an unusual place for temporal and spatial scaling. On the fragile surface of various mixtures of black and red clay, the artist has woven delicate microspaces that invite us to perceive the world from other positions of consciousness. The disks create a sense of rotation and seem to aim to construct and operate a new plastic information filtering system by bringing together the ancient spiritual energies with the vast virtual projections of the digital age“.
