Smiles in yellow

More and more replacements of the humanness begin to appear in our existence. They commence the erasure of some typically human actions to the point of losing sense. We are becoming impartial to the loss of sincerity, communicate absently we utilise simplified signs and symbols, supposedly for the purpose of ease and to say more but we utter many meaningless words. I preserve my sculpture so it does not speak meaningless words and thoughts belonging to others. The desire to examine, understand and control my new existence is motivating for some of my works presented in this exhibition. So I made “Smiles in yellow,” provoked by the ones smiling yellow, sad, crying, or angry yellow circles, through which we communicate. Their impotence when it comes to properly portraying our human excitement and judgement is more than rarely a facade for hypocrisy. I saw that behind the sterile emotional expression of this gallery of computer emoticon-replacements, the complicated real human emotions were covered up. In this and other works, I display the face of fake happiness, the convincing smile, the hypocritical awe, the dream with a past expiration date, of the pain from a kiss of my late Belle Epoque, of the dramatic despair, of the testament of blows and the form of the pain. Here I am with my animals, we are happy, we walk and suffer together, we are enjoying ourselves.

Bronze, stainless steel, paper, wood and primarily ceramic are the materials with which I worked on this exhibition. I left myself to the ceramic, the clay- a material that has always been beside me, which fulfils my need for forwardness and plasticity, it also offers me symbolism and the psychological effect of the colour.
