AZURES

painting

15-30.09.2025

With “Azures” by Lyuben Genov, we bid farewell to the summer and open the new artistic season at Arte Gallery. A bit of nostalgia, a lot of freedom, excitement, and thrill carry us through the ethereal seascapes (tentatively suggested) to the pure, colourful compositions of a creatively strong artist. A world of boundlessness – from familiar, lived natural scenes to new plays of colour and shapes.

AZURES is my third exhibition in this well-known, prestigious, and still challenging and demanding space of Arte Gallery, but also another very important step in my creative biography. After “Chromatic Variations” (2021) and “Scattered Faces” (2023), “ Azures ” is the new painting exhibition with which Gergana Borisova chose to open the autumn season of the gallery in mid-September. I can only thank her for the trust and honour. We hope it will become an event that meets expectations.

It took me almost two years to gradually perfect the idea for the current exhibition. A period with higher creative activity during the second year and focused work, reaching the culmination of the most inspiring and exciting phase in the last few months of spring and summer. Around mid-August, the final result was reached, a cycle of sixty-three new paintings, as well as a dozen remaining unfinished canvases.

In the exhibition “ Azuresi”, some of these abstract works of art are presented, inspired by nature, its states, the diverse and impressive views characteristic of summer, the blueness, the heights of the sky, the openness of open spaces, the azure sea, the play of light, and the air vibrations…

“The Azure Paths to the Night”, “Boundless”, “Azure Spaces”, and the two triptychs “Scattered Spots” in violet and turquoise, the series of “Phthalo Cyan Variations”, the polyptych “Spills in Ultramarine”, improvisations with “Azure Lagoons” and “Atolls”, and cycles of “Small Colour States” are some of the expressionist-abstract compositions that can be seen in the exhibition.

Once created, paintings know how to tell their own story. I hope that the ones I’ve created can do so as well…”
